The holiday season brings out a lot of wonderful things; one of those being peppermint! Peppermint candy canes, peppermint mocha coffee creamer, peppermint treats… you name it and I’m sure there’s peppermint in it. That’s why I am constantly looking for new ways to incorporate peppermint in my cooking, rather than spending a fortune on peppermint-flavored things. This year, I’m here to share three different ways I incorporated peppermint into my holiday cooking. Trust me, they were a huge hit!
Decorating with peppermint candy canes is the perfect way to dress up your Christmas cookies and holiday goodies. You can either outline the platter in the candy canes or (if you feel like getting really creative) you can bake cookies or brownies and outline them with candy canes to create heart-like shapes.
What better way to top of your goodies than with a sprinkle of peppermint? Not only does it look good, but it tastes good too!
Hot cocoa and peppermint is truly a perfect duo. To start, line the rim of a glass with honey and roll the honey-rimmed glass in crushed peppermint. Next, grab your hot cocoa mix and sprinkle crushed pieces of peppermint into the powder before heating. You can do this to a single packet or a large container if you’re serving it at a holiday party. Plus, you can even use a candy cane as the stirrer. Another “fresh” idea for your hot coca, coffee, or tea.
