Who doesn’t love candy, right? Candy buffet tables are a fun wedding trend being used in different ways by brides. Maybe a traditional wedding cake isn’t your style… or maybe you just have a wild sweet tooth and want to celebrate that on your BIG day? Some brides just want to add some whimsy to the reception, while others have the candy buffet do double duty as the guest favors. Some couples are opting out of serving an expensive wedding cake altogether and putting their creativity into a candy and dessert table (while saving money, too). Whatever your reasons, your guests will love it, and you will love the look. Here’s a few tips and ideas to help you put on a cool and colorful candy buffet:
Complement your color scheme
While it’s not a must, most brides choose candy and desserts that complement their color schemes. Use several colors together, or different hues and shades of a single color. It also adds interest to use a variety of different candies (both wrapped and unwrapped) that have different textures and designs.
Mix and match containers
Use different sized containers to create height and depth that will give your table a unique look. If using unwrapped candy, be sure your containers are safe for food.In addition to the glassware we sell online, we also have a selection of brand-name glasses only available through our 24/7 Customer Support Call Center at 1-877-530-TREE (8733).
Want more than just candy?
The candy buffet idea can easily be expanded to include all sorts of sweets such as cookies, cupcakes, and trendy cake pops. Simply choose some pretty and creative ways to display the sweets that complements the rest of your table… and enjoy! You can even make your own cake pops. It’s so easy, plus making them yourself can save a ton of money. See our post for DIY Cake Pops.
Add some favors
Use your beautiful candy buffet for guest favors… this is fun for the guests and will save you money, too! You’ll need to put some candy bags on your table so your guests will have a container to hold their favorite candy selections. But, with just a few extra steps, you can personalize the candy bags and have them double as your wedding favors. See our post for Personalized Favor Bags.
Label your assortment
Labeling each candy and dessert selection helps the guests know what they’re getting, but also adds a decorative touch. You can even trim the containers in ribbon and add other decorative accents to the table, such as a centerpiece, pretty linens, embellishments, and more.
Want to Make Your Own Labels? Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Card Stock Paper
- Oval Tag Template
- Craft Glue
- Double-Sided Tape
- Actual Size: 23⁄8 “W x 13⁄4″H
Easy Step-By-Step Directions:
- Cut ribbon into strips long enough to wrap around each of your containers.
- Print or trace oval tags onto card stock paper and cut out.
- If you are creating a layered tag as shown above, glue layers together using craft glue. Then glue each label to its corresponding container ribbon and set them aside to dry.
- Once ribbon/labels are dry, wrap them around your containers and secure them discreetly in the back with double-sided tape.
